February 2020

3 min read

It’s, uh, been a while since I wrote one of these things! :’D I suppose I ought to update it with some goings-on.

Par for the Course

It feels like I’m a broken record, but guess what? I’ve moved again! I’ve said it a bunch already, so to keep it short: a falling out between friends and few options afterwards left the only option of moving back in with family. It’s resulted in much less time for personal projects, so everything’s slowed to a crawl. I’m still working on it when I can! Which, coincidentally, leads into my next point…

Lato-League

I fizzled out. Hard. I wanted to continue, to keep pushing through it, and at least get to the elimination rounds even if I couldn’t compete in them. It was a mixture of poor self-discipline and bad timing (see above – that was the start of my 2019). On top of what I had to complete, my time to work on the projects was a small fraction of what it used to be. Atop that was a helping of guilt in that I’d failed those I joined with, which led to me going silent for a good chunk of time. I felt like I was wasting their time.

I’ve had to accept that I failed and learn from it for the future. Moot a point as it may be, I do intend to ‘complete’ the tasks in the league, provided they're okay with that. It won’t be for points. I like Jamie’s character and the world the admin have built there. I just wish my timing would have gone better.

For those that watch me and were interested in seeing that progression, I’m sorry if I’ve let you down. Hopefully I can make it up to you.

Other stuff!

Even though things have slowed down, I was able to get something new art-wise! I picked up a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 graphics display tablet, and I love it. There are times that I miss drawing on my Intuos Pro, but after having to re-surface it twice (couldn’t find official surfaces for my Pro 4 [I think it was? It just says Intuos Pro M on the box] so I resorted to homebrew methods, and it works well enough, there’s just the issue of moisture wearing it down quickly) and using the display tablet, it’s a bit of a change. I like how natural the new linework feels while I draw.

Hopefully I’ll have more to report in the new year!

Happy 2020!

Hey everybody! I know it’s been a while, but there’s something I wanted to let y’all know about.

Do you like to draw?

Do you like Pokémon?

Do you want to have lots of fun drawing Pokémon with a bunch of other people who have fun drawing Pokémon?

If you answered yes to any of those, go take a look at the Lato-League! It’s an art-based Pokémon group that I’m going to be participating in! You’ll get to explore a new region and interact with a bunch of other artists and their Pokémon along the way!

If you’re interested, go ahead and give it a shot! I’ll see you there~

Hey there! It’s been a while.

I apologize for not really keeping everything up to date. To think, I updated that journal almost a year ago… :’D I’ll try to keep it short and sweet.

August of last year, my family moved away and, given the circumstances, I chose not to follow. That meant getting a full-time job and lodging with three friends in a small house until I figured out how to be an adult proper. Art-wise, work left me drained, so I’d come home and play some games or watch some videos, then call it a night before getting ready for work the next day. Thus, not a lot got accomplished in that time.

But then, the new year came around!

The group that I help draw stuff for, BeyondTheGreatSea, got its own Discord server, and we threw a grand party to breathe some life back into things. Which brings me to my next point!

BeyondTheGreatSea

If you like the Legend of Zelda series, Wind Waker in particular, then you should definitely check us out! We’re an art- and literature-based group centered around such styles!

And for those of you who might already be members of the group, but haven’t heard: We’re currently taking roll call to help clear out some of the dustier applications, so if you’ve not told us you’re coming back, and you want to, be sure to leave a comment over there so you don’t get cleaned out! The deadline is February 28th! While roll call's over, we're still accepting applications and more than happy to have new faces around!

And I think that’s it! Have a good one~

I should invest in making use of my core membership and make a journal skin |D

‘Hoooy!

My apologies for not having an update since last year. Between work and life, it’s been hard collecting my thoughts enough to throw them together into a somewhat cohesive journal. I’m often so exhausted that I can barely do anything more than a simple little doodle/sketch without losing focus or nearly falling asleep at my desk. But with the school year ending, hopefully I’ll see work get a little less…stressful.

Life

As it is with almost anybody you talk to, life is throwing me for a loop this year. Politics aside, these four months have drained a lot from me, from ramping up work to ¾ time, to being voluntold that I must find a place to stay, as my family won’t be renewing the lease on the house in which we’re currently residing. Thus, I’ve not had a lot of time to focus on career-related things. Instead, working without lunches and apartment hunting have been at the forefront.

Beyond the Great Sea

I’m sure at least a few folks have noticed activity on a few specific pieces in my gallery. Currently, BeyondTheGreatSea is still on hiatus; I’ve been tidying up my end of things while Breath of the Wild’s spark of insanityinspiration still burns. I’m trying to give Terrik a more thorough cleanup with his backstory and information, while also tying in my recent D&D adventures in a way that works around the story in place for Beyond. I want his story to form with it and become a part of him; I don’t want it to just be an “alternate dimension” situation. However, I don’t want to interfere with what’s in place for the group because it isn’t just his story. /blabber

Breath of the Wild

I dressed in costume for the midnight launch; I bought a Switch, the Special Edition, the Expansion Pass, and all five Amiibo; I modeled, 3D-printed, and painted a Sheikah Slate to fit my phone…

And yes, it lights up.

(I’ll be making a case for the Switch and a v2 as well, with time)

I’ve logged over 165 hours in the game, and I’ve had fun, but it isn’t without its flaws. 900 little tree poops? nothanksbye

Art

I’ve not posted a lot this year, even though I’ve really wanted to. With everything that’s going on, at least for the time being, I’m probably going to make smaller pieces to post, like the Storytime bits for Terrik. They’re a small enough size to work on in bite-sized chunks, but they also allow me to work on certain aspects of a piece without requiring much else. They’re essentially larger thumb drawings! Quick little ideas.

Also to note, I’ll just throw up another reminder about Terrik’s Postbox! It’s a fun way to make some quick pieces, while also having a bit of interaction with you guys! Anonymous questions are on, in case you don’t use Tumblr (can’t say I’d blame you, either).

And with that, I’ve wrapped up my thoughts to the best of my abilities. I hope you’re having as good a 2017 as you can. Stay fresh!

Haven't done one of these in a while; why not? 8D

Elgieplz tagged me!

Name: Chandler! Like a candlemaker, or that guy from Friends.

Star sign: Libra

Average of hours sleep: I shoot for 8, but I likely get more around 6 on a good night.

Lucky number: 11.

Last thing I googled: "stardew valley review" (It's really good 8D)

When I started this account: April 22, 2008. Wow.

Amount of watchers: 110! How'd I pass 100 without knowing? 8U Thanks for everyone who gazes upon my doodles!

What do I post: Mostly Zelda-related stuff with a hint of anthro work (if I ever get back to that).

Do I run any more blogs: I wouldn't really consider this a blog of any kind. I do have a Tumblr, but that's as far as I reach.

Do I get a lot of comments: I'm not sure how to gauge how many is "a lot"... I have a few regulars, and depending on the piece, I might get 2 or 3 additional comments.

Why I chose my username: Story time! I know I've said this before (I explain it every time someone/something asks), but it actually came from RuneScape from the mid-2000s. I wanted to be "Link" because I was a huge fan of Zelda then (go figure 8D), but alas, the name was taken. Instead, they gave me a list of names with "Link" followed by numbers. 2262 happened to be the numbers I chose. Since then, it's been my online alias just about anywhere I go.

Aaaaand I don't do well with tagging. |D If you want to do it, feel free! I won't force you.
